How to properly dispose of oil

Choose the right container for your oil

Using vacuum trucks, our team of experienced collection drivers will pump the oil directly from the bin, tote, or external hookups (for installed indoor tanks). This minimizes the risk of a spill or mess from occurring at the time of collection. Each truck has a minimum of 100ft of hose on board so our drivers can access your container even if it cannot be moved.

Our 180L FATBOXX bins are made of plastic and are specially designed to
- Withstand temperatures up to 110 °C.
- Latches & Seals so it can be moved easily without the risk of spilling.
- Prevents small animals from accessing the oil.
- Prevents unpleasant odours emanating from the bin.

IBC totes

For restaurants generating higher volumes of used cooking oil, we offer 600 and 1000-litre IBC totes. Totes come with an easy pour metal funnel with a built-in grate to catch solids that would otherwise end up in the tote.

Step 1

Wait for the oil to cool down

Very hot oil can melt the container and pose a safety risk, such as burns to you and your employees.

Pour it carefully to avoid spills

If a small spill does occur, absorbent materials like paper towels, sawdust, sand, spill kits or cat litter can be used for cleanup. Once the oil has been absorbed, the degreaser and hot water will wash away any remaining oil.

We collect the oil

We collect the oil with pumper trucks, so the containers need to be placed where our drivers can access them. Place the container in a safe and easily accessible area, such as the garbage island. Please keep the area surrounding your containers free and clear of obstructions (e.g., snow, ice, garbage, etc.), as any obstruction could pose a safety risk to you and our collection drivers. In an urban area, keep the containers locked to prevent unauthorized use, such as garbage disposal. At your request, we can install lock hardware on your container free of charge.

What not to dispose?

Do not dispose of other food waste, garbage, water or other liquids such as detergents, chemicals and motor oil, grease trap material, or other hazardous materials
