Atlantic Canada’s Trusted Used Cooking Oil Refiner

Buy. Collect. Refine. Ship. Convert.

15 years ago we started buying used cooking oil from local restaurants. Over time we have expanded and are now purchasing used cooking oil from over 2000 restaurants through the Atlantic Canada region (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island). Two years ago Biofuel Oils established the refinery in the Mount Uniacke Business Park, where the new product from crude used cooking oil is produced, called Premium UCO, used as the main feedstock for biodiesel fuel.

How we are changing the industry

With the arrival of Biofuel Oils we’re implementing innovative collection system for collecting used cooking oils. Our system purchases, collects and recycles used cooking oil from restaurants for energy purpose; nothing goes to landfill. It also presents a whole new way of handling the oil in Atlantic Canada. This innovative collection system of collecting oils has multiple effects on different layers of restaurant’s and other businesses, like:

1. Improving people’s awareness that with better separation of their waste they can get more money for quality used cooking oil, that’s why they are separating oil from other organics;

2. With better separation of waste recycling is much more efficient and uses less energy for processing, that’s why organic waste processing industry has easier work and less waste ends on landfill;

3. With our innovative dedicated FATBOXX bins the restaurant’s kitchen is much cleaner and safer for employees to handle with hot oils. Bins are on the wheels and can be easy to move all over the kitchen and stored inside the restaurant. All that is not possible with barrels.

4. With innovative way of storing and separation of waste we are preventing potential risk of spreading diseases which could emerge from “cooking” all kinds of garbage. Just covered barrel without tight lid, full of oils mixed with all kinds of organics and other garbage, than stored outside the restaurant can presents a big risk for animal’s and human’s health;

5. Everything we collect is recycled into renewable energy; nothing returns back into food chain as by-product for animal feed.
